Presenting the Nile Project at the Hydrotraces Symposium in Venice

On September 5th, 2025, I presented my Nile project at the symposium Hydrotraces of Social Justice in Times of Climate Crisis in Venice, organized by the COST Action TRACTS in collaboration with the Centre for Environmental Humanities (NICHE) at Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia. The symposium brought together scholars, practitioners, and artists to explore the intersections of water, climate change, and social justice.

Together with Dr. Emanuele Fantini, with whom I have been collaborating on water-related projects since 2019, we presented Mapping Socio-Ecological Relations in a Nile River Island in Cairo. Our contribution focused on my long-term work on Qursaya Island and the Nile Parade, combining artistic and journalistic perspectives with social science. Inspired by our ongoing conversations, the presentation took a more performative approach, reflecting the rich dialogue that continually shapes and deepens the project.

It was a very inspiring gathering, bringing together voices from both science and art. The symposium brought new knowledge, connections, and opened doors for potential future collaborations.
