Photo Exhibition curation at the 1st International Conference on Photogranules
On the 17th of September, I participated in the 1st International Conference on Photogranules in Delft (17–19 September 2025) as the exhibition curator, exhibiting images taken by scientists during their lab work. This collaboration grew out of my curiosity and love for water and its knowledge.
Photogranules are an emerging wastewater treatment technology that uses solar energy to clean (waste)water while also producing valuable biomass. I first encountered this field through Professor Tânia V. Fernandes, who introduced me to researcher Lukas M. Trebuch. Their work and the stunning visuals seen under the microscope drew me into this science, and soon after Professor Fernandes invited me to curate this exhibition which can be a new way of presenting this new science and knowledge.
The exhibition provided researchers and scientists with an opportunity to see their own images printed on the wall, beyond being in the research papers and their labs. It sparked new conversations about their work, their methods, and their findings. It was also a chance for other students and colleagues at IHE Delft to discover this promising science in a different light.
