Fluid Interdisciplinarities Symposium— Berlin, Oct 23–25, 2025

Last week, I participated in Fluid Interdisciplinarities, a three-day symposium at Humboldt University in Berlin that brought together water researchers, artists, and practitioners to explore diverse perspectives on water-related challenges.

Organized by the Integrative Research Institute on Transformations of Human-Environment Systems (IRI THESys) and artist Regina Hügli (One Body of Water), in cooperation with IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, the University of Montpellier, the Knowledge Exchange with Society team, and TA T – Tieranatomisches Theater at the Centre for Cultural Techniques (ZfK), the symposium fostered inspiring exchanges between science, art, and society through film screenings, pop up exhibitions, presentations and discussions.

It was so enriching experience, not only presenting my project to an audience who are engaged with rivers and water from artistic, scientific, and academic backgrounds, but also connecting with participants who shared stories of their own rivers.

Thirteen rivers, numerous projects, initiatives, and studies came together in one space.

We spoke, we shared, we played, imagined, and built connections that will help us in our work for the future. Every time I take part in such interdisciplinary spaces, I leave with new ideas, insights, and energy, motivated to continue what I’m doing and inspired to think about new collaborations and projects with other “river people” around the world.
