“Baladi bread” is the local bread that all Egyptians are depending on for their everyday life, I grow up having bread for the 3 daily meals like any Egyptian, The subsidy bread is distributed to every citizen all over Egypt, when the revolution started in 2011 people were chanting in the streets “ Bread, Freedom & Social Justice” Bread was their priority, that’s why any crisis or price rise in the Egyptian bread is taken seriously and is a warning sign for any government or regime since it is one of the main stabilizers for those who are in power.

The challenges are great from water scarcity that dimensioned the size of agricultural lands planting wheat, to the Russia-Ukraine war which affected the 80% wheat supply that Egypt imports from both countries
